Patrick Mahomes Gives Review of New Chief's 1st Game With KC
The Kansas City Chie improved to 10-0 in one-score games on Sunday night, defeating the Los Angeles Chargers 19-17. While that's certainly impressive, the biggest storyline entering and leaving the game was the performance at left tackle. D.J. Humphries made his first start for the Chiefs after tearing his ACL last season and all eyes were on him.
In his first game back, Humphries seemed to struggle a lot. Despite that, when Patrick Mahomes was asked about Humphries' performance after the game he said, " I was proud of how he fought."

Yet again, Mahomes' comments clearly speak to his strong leadership abilities because Humphries did have a tough time in his first game back. According to Next Gen Stats, Humphries allowed eight quarterback pressures ( second most on the team) and a pressure rate of 20.0% ( second highest by a Chiefs LT in a game this season).
Humphries does deserve some benefit of the doubt as he faced a talented Chargers edge rush room. While the room is headed by Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack the rotation is pretty strong.
The outcome people saw on Sunday night was the most likely one for Humphries coming off of an ACL injury. Yet fans still expected better given his Pro Bowl pedigree.
Unfortunately, Humphries did end up exiting the game late with an injury. However, no update was provided after the contest, indicating he is likely okay.
Nevertheless, while Mahomes comments about Humphries showing some fight may have some merit, playing better will leave no doubt that Humphries has fight and was a worthy signing.
