7 Most Disappointing Chiefs Despite 5-0 Start

Even though the Kansas City Chiefs are 5-0, the 2024 season has been far from perfect. These seven players have been the most disappointing Chiefs through five games.

6. Jared Wiley, TE

The Chiefs drafted Travis Kelce's potential success when they selected Jared Wiley with the 131st overall pick back in April. The promising pass-catcher elevated his game after transferring to TCU in 2022, racking up 765 receiving yards and 12 TDs in 27 games across the last two seasons.

After a strong showing during May and June's offseason activities, Chiefs fans began to wonder if Wiley would have a notable role on offense. Unfortunately, those expectations ended quickly during the preseason after the 23-year-old TE only mustered 14 receiving yards on four receptions in three exhibition outings.

Wiley also failed to take advantage of Kelce's slow start to the 2024 campaign. He's only been targeted once for a seven-yard reception through his first five NFL games and has been put in more of a blocking role for the time being.

Head coach Andy Reid likes to temper expectations regarding rookies, however, it's clear that Wiley's career hasn't gotten off to the best start. While nobody was expecting him to light the world on fire, it's safe to say Chiefs fans expected better than his current performance.
