4. Patrick Mahomes, QB

Just because Patrick Mahomes is on thin ice doesn't mean he's going anywhere. The perennial NFL MVP candidate has been a big reason why the Chiefs are the league's last remaining undefeated team.

Having said that, the veteran quarterback must be better if he wants to lead the franchise to a third consecutive Lombardi Trophy.

Although Mahomes has played to a career-best 69.9 completion rating through eight starts, he's averaging personal worsts in terms of passing yards per game (242.8) and yards per completion (10.3). That's without mentioning how his 90.1 passer rating is also his worst effort since being named the No. 1 QB back in 2018.

Ball security has also been an issue for the six-time Pro Bowl gunslinger. After finishing with a career-worst 14 interceptions last year, Mahomes is already up to nine INTs and has only gone one appearance without throwing a pick. As good as he can be under center, constant giveaways will only make it harder for the Chiefs to return to the top of the mountain.

At the end of the day, Kansas City's championship outlook lives and dies by Mahomes. While some of the blame can be placed on the offensive line and his weapons, the two-time NFL MVP needs to prove why he's constantly regarded as the best player at his position before it's too late.
