2. DJ Humphries, LT

The starting left tackle spot has been a disaster for the Chiefs throughout most of the 2024 NFL season. Both Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris struggled to provide adequate protection in the role, forcing Kansas City to sign veteran blocker D.J. Humphries for the remainder of the season in November.

Expectations were high for Humphries because it was hard to imagine him doing any worse than Suamataia and Morris. Having said that, the ex-Pro Bowl LT still needed extra time to get into game shape after tearing his ACL last season, postponing his debut until Week 14.

After all the anticipation, Humphries was just... okay against the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend. He ended up playing 60 offensive snaps, allowing a whopping five pressures that resulted in a pass block grade of 56.9. Even though that was far from the worst possible effort, the Chiefs will need better performances than that down the stretch.

At the end of the day, Humphries' ability to thrive on Andy Reid's offensive line could determine the Chiefs' Super Bowl fate. Kansas City can't afford to turn back to Suamataia or Morris, meaning it's all on Humphries to protect Patrick Mahomes' blindside, for better or worse.

Hopefully, his underwhelming Chiefs debut was a one-off situation and Humphries's play only improves with each passing game down the stretch.
