Elijah Moore is a top wide receiver option in the 2021 NFL Draft and the Kansas City Chiefs would be an excellent match for him.

While wide receiver isn’t a top need for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2021 NFL Draft, it is important for this team to find someone capable of being the WR2 behind Tyreek Hill. The Chiefs have depth at wide receiver, but none of them really stand out as being able to serve that WR2 role.

Elijah Moore could fill that role, but the Chiefs would likely have to spend their first-round pick on him if they wanted him as a member of their arsenal. They could also trade out of the first round and could probably land Moore early on in the second round.

Moore played college football at Ole Miss and had an absolutely insane 2020 season despite there only being eight games for the Rebels. Moore had 1,193 yards off of 86 receptions and found the end zone eight times. Those are just monstrous numbers through eight games.

Michael Balko of NFL Analysis Network listed the Chiefs as an ideal landing spot for Moore and had this to say,

"The Chiefs have seen a lot of their success come from smaller players, so the lack of height likely doesn’t matter much to the Chiefs. Tyreek Hill is under six feet tall and he is one of the best receivers in the league. If you consider Moore’s ability to do a lot of the same things Hill can, he would be more than worth a shot with the 31st overall pick.Elijah Moore is pure speed and hands and that’s a major reason why he’s garnering so much draft interest as a potential first-round pick. Moore can catch a ball in open space and take it 30 yards up the field in the blink of an eye, which could be lethal for teams trying to game plan against the Chiefs."

The Kansas City Chiefs need a No. 2 wide receiver. Elijah Moore could be that.

With Sammy Watkins off to Baltimore, the need for someone other than Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce to catch passes grows stronger. We saw in Super Bowl LV that it is possible to defend both Hill and Kelce and when no one else was able to step up, well — You know what happened.

Moore is yet another weapon for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. For an offense that values speed in their receivers, Moore fits the mold perfectly and would be an immediate contributor in this offense.

For what it’s worth, the other three teams to land on Balko’s list were the Browns, Jets, and Saints, all of whom have a need at wide receiver as well. None of those teams have a quarterback anywhere close to what Mahomes is though.

While the Chiefs can probably wait until Day 2 to draft a wide receiver, Moore’s potential definitely makes it more tempting for Kansas City to take him if he’s there at pick No. 31.
