The Kansas City Royals’ offense put on quite the performance in their opening series, but how will they fare against Cleveland in series No. 2?

No offense to the Texas Rangers, but the Kansas City Royals‘ offense did what they were supposed to do against their weak pitching — They pounded the ball, scoring double-digit runs in their first two games and really beating up on that Rangers bullpen.

The entire season isn’t going to be that easy for the Royals’ offense and we’ll see them face their first true test in their next two games. The boys in blue head to Cleveland for a two-game series and the Tribe’s home opener.

While Cleveland might not be the favorites in the division, they still have some of the best pitching in the league and could easily cool off this red-hot Royals offense. The Royals will face Logan Allen and Shane Bieber in their two games against the Tribe. Allen had an ERA of 3.38 last year through just 10.2 innings while Bieber was one of the best in the league a year ago and has the Cy Young Award to prove it.

It won’t be easy for the Kansas City Royals to score runs in their next series.

To make matters worse, Hunter Dozier is still battling an injured thumb and Adalberto Mondesi won’t be back for a few more weeks. That means the Royals have Michael A. Taylor batting sixth and behind him are the likes of Kyle Isbel, Hanser Alberto, and Nicky Lopez.

All of those guys did incredibly well in the Royals’ first series, but that was against a terrible Texas pitching staff. How will they do against a stacked pitching staff like Cleveland? That remains to be seen.

The Royals definitely struck gold with getting to face Texas in their first series of the year, but it’s not always going to be that easy. This is a talented offense who has a chance to be very good in the American League, but they faced some of the worst pitching in all of the majors and that definitely came into play.

If the Royals continue to hit the ball well against a pitching staff as good as Cleveland’s, then maybe we can get a little more excited about this offense and what kind of damage they can do throughout the year.

These next two games won’t be easy, but the Royals definitely have something to prove to the naysayers.
