RB3 Options for Chiefs in 2021 – No. 2: Chuba Hubbard (Draft Prospect)

This would have been a much more popular pick this time last year, but make no mistake — Chuba Hubbard is still a very good running back and could do some real damage with the Chiefs.

Hubbard is a prime example of why running backs should be able to declare for the draft earlier than others, as he had a crazy good year as a sophomore in 2019. That season saw Hubbard rush for over 2,000 yards (2,094 to be exact) and a whopping 21 touchdowns for Oklahoma State.

Hubbard’s follow-up season wasn’t as good, as the Cowboys running back had 625 yards and five touchdowns, but the season was a much shorter one due to the pandemic. The Chiefs wouldn’t draft Hubbard expecting him to rush for over 2,000 yards (especially not as a RB3), but he’d come in and be expected to get a key first down.

It’ll be interesting to see where Hubbard goes in the draft because on the one hand, he had that insane season where he rushed for over 2,000 yards, but on the other hand, that’s a lot of work for a young player already. He might be available on Day 3 of the draft and if he slips to the end of the fifth round or even the sixth round, he might be too hard for the Chiefs to pass up.
