Chiefs news involves Laurent Duvernay-Tardif mentioning that he’ll be back next season.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was one of many NFL players who opted out of the 2020 NFL season. Everyone had their own reasons as to why they made that decision, but Duvernay-Tardif was doing so because he was working the front lines of the pandemic.

After not playing this season, LDT announced in a video that was tweeted out by the Sunday Night Football account that he’d be returning to the gridiron in 2021. The announcement comes at the end of the video that is listed with the tweet below.

This is great news for the Kansas City Chiefs, as their offensive line has been banged up throughout the season. They could have used LDT this season to be a mainstay in that right guard spot.

Check out what’s trending in Chiefs news.

"We don’t know what the future holds as far as COVID-19 is concerned, but it seems as if Duvernay-Tardif is confident that he’ll be back on the field with the Chiefs next season."

"The Chiefs could certainly use the 29-year-old along the interior of their offensive line. Kansas City also stands to get back would-have-been rookie Lucas Niang, which should bolster that position group as the team plans both their free agency and draft strategies."

"Not even giving the man who Watson — the face of the Texans — wanted as his next head coach is further proof that the Texans don’t deserve Eric Bieniemy."

Having Laurent Duvernay-Tardif along the Chiefs’ offensive line in 2021 is going to make it less criticial of a need this offseason. They’ll also have rookie Lucas Niang back next season (well, hopefully), who also opted out of the 2020 regular season, and that gives them two solid offensive line options for next season.

It was tough not having Duvernay-Tardif in a Chiefs uniform this season, but what he was doing was so much bigger than football. He was making a real difference during what’s been an incredibly tough time for the entire world and Chiefs fans should be proud to have this guy in Kansas City.

Getting their right guard back for 2021 will be nice for sure and LDT made sure the fans knew what his intentions were before this current season even ended. We can’t wait to see him back on the field again next season.
