Kansas City Chiefs: Opponents set for 2021 season
The Kansas City Chiefs officially know who their opponents are in 2021.
While Kansas City Chiefs fans are still fixated on the postseason, we now know who the team will play in 2021 and which teams will be on the road or in the wonderful confines of Arrowhead Stadium. Keep in mind that there will be an extra game in the 2021 regular season because the NFL needs more money apparently.
Obviously, the Chiefs will play their own divisional opponents two times each. They’ll also face the AFC North, the NFC East, and then the winners of the AFC East and AFC South. The rumors for the extra game in 2021 will be against the winner of the NFC North, though that rumor hasn’t 100% been confirmed yet.
Here are the teams who will be coming to Arrowhead in the 2021 season:
- Denver Broncos
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Cleveland Browns (AFC North)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC North)
- Buffalo Bills (AFC East)
- Dallas Cowboys (NFC East)
- New York Giants (NFC East)
Assuming fans are able to attend games in 2021, there are definitely some interesting matchups taking place at Arrowhead next season. A case could be made for any of these home games to be played under the bright lights of primetime but the best ones would be against the Steelers or Bills since those were the two division winners from this current season.
Now, let’s take a look at where the Chiefs will be playing in 2021:
- Denver Broncos
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Baltimore Ravens (AFC North)
- Cincinnati Bengals (AFC North)
- Tennessee Titans (AFC South)
- Philadelphia Eagles (NFC East)
- Washington Football Team (NFC East)
The road games aren’t nearly as compelling, but Chiefs/Ravens is surely going to be in primetime because it’ll pit Patrick Mahomes against Lamar Jackson. Chiefs/Titans should be one to circle on the calendar too, as it’ll be a rematch of the 2019 AFC Championship Game. Traveling to play Washington will be interesting too, as it’ll be Alex Smith’s first game against his former team.
The 17th game is rumored to be against the Packers, but we don’t know if it’ll be at home or on the road yet. We don’t know much about that whole ordeal but whether it’s at home or on the road, it should make for a good matchup.
What do you think of next season’s opponents, Chiefs Kingdom? What are the best matchups on the schedule in your opinion?
