KC Chiefs: Madden simulation for Week 17 vs Chargers
How does Madden see the KC Chiefs’ 2020 regular-season finale playing out?
The 2020 NFL regular-season has flown by and with just one game remaining, the Kansas City Chiefs have nothing to gain from playing their starters in Week 17. They’ll let Chad Henne head into battle as the starting quarterback and try to give the Chargers an easier chance to win.
Before we dive into the final regular-season Madden sim of the season, let’s see how the video game did when predicting Chiefs/Falcons. As we all know, the game almost went to overtime, but a missed Younghoe Koo field goal prevented that from coming to fruition.
Well, oddly enough, Madden thought this game would go to overtime and had the Chiefs winning it by a score of 36-30. The Chiefs didn’t score more than 17 points, however, so the game was wrong there (as were most of us).
Does Madden think the KC Chiefs will beat the Chargers?
Final Score: Chiefs 17, Chargers 23
CHIEFS STATS
- Chad Henne – 24-of-39, 292 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT
- Le’Veon Bell – 17 carries, 85 yards
- Tyreek Hill – 8 rec, 82 yards, TD
- Mecole Hardman – 6 rec, 74 yards, TD
- Travis Kelce – 4 rec, 66 yards
- Alex Okafor – 10 tackles
CHARGERS STATS
- Justin Herbert – 16-of-23, 203 yards, 2 TD
- Austin Ekeler – 25 carries, 101 yards; 2 rec, 28 yards, TD
- Mike Williams – 6 rec, 99 yards
- KJ Hill Jr. – 5 rec, 51 yards, TD
- Desmond King – INT
- Dru Tranquill – INT
- Nasir Adderley – INT
- Joey Bosa – Sack
- Justin Jones – Sack
This result isn’t surprising, as Henne hasn’t started a game in the NFL since 2014. He actually throws an interception on the very first play in the game, which gets the Chargers offense an opportunity early and they capitalize. Los Angeles never trails this game and while they don’t win it convincingly, this would be a welcomed victory for Chargers fans, even if it did come against Chiefs backups.
I only excluded Patrick Mahomes from the sim so it’s hard to really envision these stats happening. Hill and Kelce aren’t playing, but Hardman should be on the field and if he is, he’d be Henne’s go-to so it’s possible he has a big game.
It wouldn’t be shocking if Henne struggled but these numbers aren’t atrocious. He’s able to throw for two touchdowns and nearly 300 yards with backups surrounding him and his team only loses by a touchdown. Chiefs fans also need to realize this game means nothing so at the end of the day, does Henne’s performance really matter that much?
It’d still be funny if the Chiefs’ backups were able to take down the Chargers despite this being a meaningless game, but Madden doesn’t foresee that happening.
