Kansas City Chiefs: Eight star performances vs Dolphins in Week 14
The Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the Dolphins. Who shined the brightest in the win?
It’d be nice if the Kansas City Chiefs could blow out an opponent for once, but hey, they won and I guess that’s all that matters for this team down the stretch as they try to grab that No. 1 seed in the playoffs. The Chiefs scraped out a 33-27 win over the feisty Fins and in doing so, won their fifth straight AFC West title.
Who really stepped up and helped make this victory possible? Here are the eight stars from the win over the Dolphins.
8. Tershawn Wharton
I’ll just come out and say that anyone who had a sack in this game is appearing on the list this week because of how poorly the pass rush has been performing. After not recording a single sack last week, the Chiefs got to Tua Tagovailoa four different times this week and Tershawn Wharton got in on the action.
Wharton was an undrafted pick out of Missouri S&T and has been a nice addition to the Chiefs defense this year. Not only did he get a sack on Tua, but Wharton notched two tackles (one for loss) while hitting the quarterback once as well. He earned his spot on this week’s list.
7. Frank Clark
While Frank Clark had an offsides penalty that helped set up Miami’s final touchdown, he mostly had a good game on Sunday. Clark has been pretty disappointing for the most part this season, but he stepped up (and I called him out in my players to watch post) and showed he still had a lot left in the tank this season.
Clark was one of four players to sack Tua and his sack was a big one. After Clark took down Tua, the Dolphins were out of field goal range and the first half was coming to a close. Rather than attempt to make a play, Tua and the Dolphins’ offense opted to let the clock run out and head to the half.
The game ended up coming down to the wire and if Clark doesn’t get that sack, the Dolphins very well come away with a field goal there and the end of the game is a totally different story.
