Chiefs News: Kansas City wins fifth straight AFC West title
Chiefs news surrounds how the Kansas City Chiefs won their fifth straight AFC West title on Sunday.
Once upon a time, Kansas City Chiefs fans didn’t have super high expectations every year. Having a winning record would be nice, making the playoffs would be even nicer, and a division title would be the icing on the cake. More often than not, however, the team typically didn’t accomplish many of those goals.
That all changed when Andy Reid came to town in 2013. Sure, it took the Chiefs until Reid’s fourth season before they won the AFC West, but ever since then, the division has belonged to the Chiefs and it will once more this year.
This isn’t any surprise though. No one really thought anyone else would win the AFC West (and if they did, they know nothing about football), so the Chiefs accomplished their first goal, but can’t stop now. Winning the division is no longer good enough, not after this team won a Super Bowl and is looking to run it back this season.
A division title is great, but it’s only step one for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 season. The next step is to win out and secure that No. 1 seed.

It feels bizarre to shrug off a fifth straight division title considering how five years ago we all would have dreamed about this, but times have changed. Chiefs Kingdom EXPECTS this team to win the division, especially when it’s so lopsided this year. The Raiders are the only other team in the AFC West with a winning record and they’re barely holding onto that accomplishment after losing to the Colts on Sunday.
Winning the division is great because it means the KC Chiefs will go to the playoffs for the sixth straight year, but we all anticipated that. This team is too talented not to win the division. Now they have to do what we all know they’re capable of and run it back.
