Kansas City Chiefs who won’t be back in 2021 — No. 2: Austin Reiter

The Chiefs thought they had something when Austin Reiter stepped in and played well during the 2018 season. They re-signed him to a two-year deal after the fact and it hasn’t really gone according to plan unfortunately. Reiter has mostly struggled along the offensive line and at one point, lost his job to Daniel Kilgore.

Reiter found his way back into the lineup this past weekend though, moving to his old center position and it didn’t go great. That’s been the story with Reiter for most of this season (and last season too honestly).

The only way Kansas City would re-sign Reiter to another contract is for depth purposes. They need to put a strong focus on the offensive line this offseason and center is a position that needs upgrading for sure, as Reiter proved he wasn’t the man for the job.

Again, he could be brought back as a depth piece, but the Chiefs really should move on because he’s proven he isn’t the answer at center. Find someone in the draft, free agency, or go with someone already on the roster.
