How does Madden think the Week 7 battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos will go?

The Kansas City Chiefs got back in the win column after an impressive win over the Bills on Monday, but they’re back to it this Sunday against the Broncos. The Chiefs haven’t played great against their division rivals this season, but hopefully that won’t be the case on Sunday when they head into the Mile High city.

Before we get into the Madden simulation for this game, let’s see how the video game did when predicting what would happen in the Chiefs/Bills battle. It inaccurately predicted the winner, pegging the Bills to win by eight points and getting off to a commanding 35-3 lead at the half. As we know, that’s not how the game went at all.

Now, let’s take a look at what Madden projected was in store for the defending Super Bowl champions for Week 7.

Final Score: Chiefs 35, Broncos 24

CHIEFS STATS

  • Patrick Mahomes – 22 of 35, 265 yards, TD
  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire – 22 carries, 120 yards, 2 TD
  • DeAndre Washington – 8 carries, 13 yards, TD
  • Demarcus Robinson – 6 rec, 91 yards
  • Tyreek Hill – 7 rec, 62 yards, TD
  • Mecole Hardman – 5 rec, 55 yards
  • Damien Wilson – 10 tackles
  • Frank Clark – Sack
  • Derrick Nnadi – Sack

BRONCOS STATS

  • Drew Lock – 18 of 34, 238 yards, 3 TD
  • Melvin Gordon – 16 carries, 70 yards
  • Tim Patrick – 4 rec, 60 yards, TD
  • Noah Fant – 5 rec, 40 yards, TD
  • Jerry Jeudy – 3 rec, 52 yards
  • KJ Hamler – 2 rec, 26 yards, TD
  • Todd Davis – 13 tackles

While the Chiefs ultimately win this game by 11 points, Madden thinks it’ll be a closely contested match-up early in the third quarter. It’s a 21-21 ball game at that point, but the Chiefs breakaway from there to win it by double digits. Lock accounts for all three Broncos touchdowns, but still only completes 18 total passes on the day. That won’t be enough to beat the Chiefs.

Mahomes doesn’t have a magical day by any means, but the run game takes over once again with Edwards-Helaire having another 100+ yard rushing day. Le’Veon Bell was not included in this sim because we’re not sure how the Chiefs are going to use him yet. He might get double digit carries or none at all.

Fans would be sweating a bit if it’s a tie game in the third quarter, but no one would be shocked to see the Chiefs pull away in dominating fashion in the final quarter and once again hand the Broncos another loss. Hopefully this is how the game ends up going.
