Fantasy Football Defenses/Special Teams to Target – Number 5: Patriots

5. player. 47. . D/ST. New England Patriots. New England Patriots

The Patriots were far and away the best defense last year for a good chunk of the season. We started to see them come back down to Earth against better offenses, but they’ll still be a solid unit in 2020.

New England led the league in turnover differential and were second in overall turnovers. They also were first in yards allowed and really were untouchable for the first half of the season.

Something to consider with the Patriots, however, is that they have had several players opting out of the 2020 season. Dont’a Hightower and Patrick Chung round out the defensive players who won’t be suiting up for New England this year and while that’s not the end of the world for them, it’ll impact their defense for sure.

This will be a top tier defense in 2020 unless bigger names opt out this season, so make sure you take the Patriots in the middle of the draft and get yourself one of the best units there is for this season.
