The Kansas City Royals are fortunate to play in the confines of gorgeous Kauffman Stadium. The K comes in at number 12 on Bleacher Report’s list of best MLB stadiums.

Even though football is my favorite sport, I’ll be the first to admit that baseball stadiums are way cooler than football stadiums. Baseball stadiums have a uniqueness to them and no ball park is alike, which isn’t the case with football stadiums. They all look the same.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report ranked all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums prior to the 2020 season and had Kauffman Stadium in the top half, at number 12. Kansas City Royals fans would obviously argue that the K should be much higher on the list, but here’s why Rymer ranked it where he did.

"For starters, the home of the Kansas City Royals still has something of an understated beauty. The fountains beyond the outfield walls are one of the more unique features of any stadium, and beyond those fountains are lovely views of the surrounding landscape."

The fountains are absolutely gorgeous and it makes for a beautiful backdrop whenever the K shoots off fireworks during every Friday home game in the summertime. No one would argue that the fountains are one of the best features of Kauffman Stadium.

As stunning as Kauffman Stadium is, however, there are some common complaints about it and Rymer discusses those in his article.

"Now, if only Kauffman Stadium were actually located in the city and not out in the suburbs. And while you can get BBQ inside the stadium, at least one critic has argued that the options aren’t nearly as good as a Kansas City park deserves."

While I personally don’t mind where the K is located, I will say that I have attended baseball games in other cities that have their stadiums downtown and it does make for a cool atmosphere. It’s convenient being able to take public transportation down to the ball park and have a nice view to look at while watching the game take place.

Kauffman Stadium’s outfield might have the gorgeous fountains, but beyond that, it’s a view of the highway, which isn’t the most visually appealing.

I agree with the barbecue part too. Why not have one of the classics like Arthur Bryant, Gates, Jack Stack, or Joe’s? Even one of the new additions to the party like Q39 would be a welcomed treat to the K’s concessions.

I love Kauffman Stadium and it deserves to be in the top ten of MLB ball parks, but Rymer’s rankings make sense. Coors Field in Denver is stunning while Dodger Stadium, Wrigley Field, and Fenway Park are all classic stadiums for sure.

Kansas City Royals fans should feel lucky to have the stadium they have because it’s a great ballpark.
