Kansas City Royals: 2020 Final Mock Draft
By Cody Rickman
Kansas City Royals Mock Draft – Round 5, Pick 135: Jacob Misiorowski, Starting Pitcher (RHP)
Jacob Misiorowski is a 6’6”, 190 lb., right-handed starting pitcher, high school prospect from Grain Valley, Missouri. Misiorowski is the most projectable high school pitcher available in the draft having just turned 18 years-old in April.
According to the Draft Prospect Rankings at mlb.com, Misiorowski has the following future tool grades:
- Overall: 40
- Fastball: 60 (90 – 94 mph)
- Curveball: 55 (high 70s mph)
- Slider: 50 (mid 80s mph)
- Changeup: 45 (low 80s mph)
- Control: 45
According to the scouting report on Misiorowski at mlb.com;
"“Misiorowski still is learning to keep his long limbs in sync, so his control and command remain works in progress, as does his changeup. He has made improvements to his delivery and strike-throwing since last summer, though he didn’t get a chance to show them off in game action this spring. He’ll pitch at Oklahoma State if he doesn’t sign this summer.”"
According to the scouting report on Misiorowski at perfectgame.org;
"“Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose path to contact with a level barrel plane through extension. Primarily utilized a mid field approach but flashed the ability to turn the barrel and work to pull side as well. Tools will continue to develop with maturity. Good student as well.”"
Misiorowski has three above-average pitch offerings with his fastball, curveball, and slider. He throws his fastball between 90-94 mph that explodes late out of his release. He has a very projectable frame and with added strength his fastball will dial up to the mid to high 90s.

The overhand curveball is big and has plenty of depth which couples well with his fastball. The hard slider shows late movement and should improve with better feel. Misiorowski needs to continue to develop his change-up as he didn’t have to throw it as much against high school competition.
Misiorowski is a high ceiling/high risk project. Being nearby Kauffman Stadium in Grain Valley, Missouri, Royals scouts may have had the opportunity to get a good look at him.
Misiorowski needs to add strength to large frame and consistency in his mechanics. His long arms will be a benefit to him once he gets his mechanics fine-tuned. There is projectable talent here to make him a number 3 type starter when he becomes a more finished product.
Other possibilities: Marquis Grissom Jr., Hugh Fisher, and Elijah Cabell.
