Royals news revolves around the team announcing that they would pay their minor leaguers for the entirety of the 2020 season. Classy move by the Kansas City Royals!

These are tough times for all of us, but the Kansas City Royals showed they’re a classy organization by committing to pay their minor league players for 2020 despite the season being delayed due to COVID-19.

Jon Heyman broke the news on Friday, also noting that the team would not be releasing players either. It’s a shame that other teams haven’t been able to follow Kansas City’s lead on this one, but some teams have followed suit, including the Twins.

Other organizations have made it clear they won’t be paying their minor league players, with the Athletics being the first to make that announcement.

As we all wait for a 2020 MLB season to happen (and at this point, it’s not looking good), seeing the Kansas City Royals step up and do the right thing here makes me even prouder to be a fan. Hopefully most teams continue to follow the Royals’ example.

"But right now, more than ever, it seems as though a baseball season in 2020 may not happen. I absolutely loathe financial disputes between billionaires and millionaires, especially when it’s going to cost not just me, but a whole lot of other people a chance at some grand entertainment when that’s badly needed."

This can’t be an easy time for the Royals considering they have a new owner and new manager, but to see them back Dayton Moore’s decision to pay everyone is top notch. This is a tremendous move by management and shows that the Royals organization does treat their franchise like a family.

It’d have been easy to follow what everyone else was doing, but the Kansas City Royals went in a different route and sent the best possible message to their players. They care about them and their well being and that goes a long way, especially in these difficult times.
