CHIEFS AT RAIDERS – THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Something that I think would be fun to do would be to have this game be the first one played in the Raiders’ new stadium in Las Vegas, but it wouldn’t be able to happen. For one, Vegas probably gets one of the two Monday night games to open the season and two, it’d mean the Chiefs would play back-to-back Thursday night games to start off the year. That probably isn’t happening.

So, even with that said, I still think the Chiefs playing Thursday Night Football in Vegas is nearly a given. Thursday night games typically pit two divisional teams against each other and rarely is it the two best teams in the division.

More often than not, the Chiefs are playing one of their weaker divisional foes on Thursday nights and in this case, the Raiders are a perfect fit due to their relocation. The Chiefs played an away game on Thursday night last year – which was the game where Mahomes was injured in Denver – but with Vegas needing all the fanfare it can get (assuming fans can attend games this year), having the Chiefs play in Vegas is a foolproof plan.

I could also see the Chiefs playing the Broncos on Thursday night, but as I pointed out above, rarely is it the two perceived best teams in the division plus KC played Denver on Thursday night last year, so it just doesn’t seem to add up.

So, there you have it. My predictions as to what KC Chiefs games will make it to primetime this year and on what platform.

The only game I didn’t end up including that I’d have liked to was the one against the Buccaneers, but it didn’t really fit. The Chiefs playing the Saints in primetime is a must and them playing against multiple NFC teams in primetime seems unlikely. That could be a contender to land on Sunday afternoon however.

As noted earlier, the Chiefs’ home schedule is pretty bland, and the only surefire Sunday night game out of that group is against the Texans. Denver could be included in that, but Monday night seemed more fitting for those two teams.
