Mizzou football saw two players get selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, but quarterback Kelly Bryant was not one of them. The Tigers’ 2019 signal caller is still waiting for his chance to sign with an NFL team.

After three and a half seasons with the Clemson, Kelly Bryant excited Mizzou football fans everywhere when he announced he’d be transferring to Columbia for the 2019 season. It came at the perfect time for MU, as Drew Lock was heading to the pros and the team was in need of a quarterback for 2019.

Bryant threw for the second most yards in his college career (2,215) and the most touchdowns in his career (15), but he threw six interceptions and was banged up midway through the season, appearing in just ten games. With all of that said, him not getting drafted wasn’t shocking, but him still being unsigned is surprising.

Another former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd tweeted that perhaps Covid-19 had something to do with why Bryant was still waiting to hook on with a pro team.

One has to wonder if Bryant’s injuries are what have kept him off an NFL roster to this point or if it was that he simply didn’t play all that well during his lone year at Missouri. Maybe a combination of both.

More from Missouri Tigers

His best game was the first of the season in which he threw for 423 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in a losing effort to Wyoming. Bryant tried to bring his team back in that one, but the defense let him down that night.

It was a disappointing season for Missouri after a promising start and Bryant lost his final four games. He won’t be a starter in the NFL and that’s why the XFL would have been crucial because he could have potentially made a name for himself there and then found his way to the NFL if things went well there.

There’s still plenty of time for Bryant to find his way onto an NFL roster and make a good impression, but as of now, the one-year Missouri quarterback is still waiting for his chance.
