We are now just a few days out from the 2020 NFL Draft. With the lack of sports, this is going to be must-watch TV and Kansas City Chiefs fans may sit through the entire round just for Brett Veach to trade out of the first round.

As we near closer and closer to the 2020 NFL Draft, the rumors of a trade back have only picked up. It is worth mentioning, however, that there are now even rumors of trading up if Ruggs makes it into the 20s.

While trading down seems more likely, when it comes down to it fans really know nothing. Nevertheless, it doesn’t hurt to go ahead and take a look at targets for the Kansas City Chiefs in the case that Brett Veach does indeed trade out of the first round.

Let’s just go ahead and get running back out of the way since it feels like a requirement to at least have a running back as a possibility for the Chiefs early in the draft. I am not a huge fan of taking a running back this early, but better than in the first round.

Here are the targets KC could trade back for.

1. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB LSU

Edwards-Helaire isn’t the biggest or fastest running back in the draft, but he is one of the – if not the – best pass-catching back in the draft. That’s where he becomes very valuable for the Chiefs. In order to play running back for the Chiefs, you have to be able to catch passes and the LSU Tiger would excel in that role.

Edwards-Helaire also displays good contact balance and can make quick cuts to weave through defenses. If the Chiefs go running back in round two, this has to be the guy.

2. Chase Claypool, WR Notre Dame

As I talk about in my Chiefs Draft Big Board 3.0, Claypool is a wide receiver that should be getting round one hype and for whatever reason, he isn’t. If Veach trades back and gets more selections, I would have no problem taking Claypool with the Chiefs first pick.

Wide receiver is not the biggest need for the Chiefs, but Claypool has legit star potential and in any other draft class, he is a first-round lock. If the Chiefs could get a 6’4″ receiver with 4.38 speed in round two, it’s a wise pick regardless of the wide receiver depth currently on the roster. I’d love to see Megatron Jr. in a Chiefs uniform next season.

3. Brandon Ayiuk, WR Arizona St

Again, wide receiver is not the biggest Chiefs draft need, but Ayiuk – like Claypool – is a first rounder in almost any other draft class (and may very well be in this draft too). If the Chiefs add a pick in the early second round and Ayiuk is still there, he would be tough to pass up.

Although there is room for improvement, he is a solid route runner and when he catches the ball, he is a nightmare. This is where he fits in well with the Chiefs; Just think of the elusiveness of the Chiefs’ pass-catchers already – add this dude and they might get a first down on every play.

4. Damon Arnette, CB Ohio State

If you have read my Chiefs Draft Big Board articles, you probably know that I love this dude. He is extremely underrated and has been the entire offseason. According to Walter Football, he may have some character concerns, but that’s really the only big concern with him.

He doesn’t have elite speed, but is fast enough to hang with most NFL receivers and he definitely has an NFL-ready body. Arnette is not afraid to get physical whether that’s in press coverage or tackling in the open field. He should be able to come in and contribute right away in the Chiefs secondary next season.

5. Antoine Winfield Jr., S Minnesota

See my latest draft big board if you hear me rave about Winfield and multiple other safeties. The biggest reason why I am so high on Winfield is because of how much Honey Badger I see in him. Similar size and play styles, both are versatile safeties who will bring a contagious effort to your football team.

Winfield also has speed and athleticism to make an impact right away. Throw him into the mix with Tyrann Mathieu and Juan Thornhill and the Chiefs have the best safety group in the league and would be a very difficult secondary to move the ball against.

6. Jaylon Johnson, CB Utah

I almost left Johnson off this list because, while I love him and he’s usually available into the second round in most mock drafts, he is a guy who I still have a strong belief in not making it out of round one.

If he does and the Chiefs have an added early second-round pick due to trading back, they should take him in a heart beat. He has NFL-ready size and is an extremely sticky defender who has the potential to be a lockdown corner in the NFL.

Honorable Mentions: Robert Hunt, G/T Louisiana-Lafayette; Jeremy Chinn, S/LB Southern Illinois

With just a few days remaining until the draft, what are your opinions on trading back versus staying put at 32? With this kind of value early in the second-round and only five picks this year, it seems like a good option for Veach and the Kansas City Chiefs.

I, myself, am very torn because this seems like a smart move for the Chiefs, but then again it would suck to watch the whole first round just to trade out of round one with the very last pick of the night.

I would forgive Veach for this blasphemous waste of my time if he grabs one of the guys in this article. What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom?
