KC Chiefs News: Patrick Mahomes vs Lamar Jackson new NFL rivalry
KC Chiefs news includes a fun nugget from the NFL’s 101 Awards this past weekend where Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson said that he “hates” playing against Patrick Mahomes. This could be the new premiere rivalry in the NFL.
Everyone wants to crown every young quarterback battle as the next Tom Brady vs Peyton Manning rivalry football fans get to watch for 15 years. With Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes being the best player in the league right now, it’s only natural that people think he’ll be one half of the next great quarterback rivalry. Who would the counterpart be?
Well, after the 2019 season that Lamar Jackson of the Ravens had, it’d make sense for him to be the other half of the rivalry. If that’s the case, it hasn’t been much of a clash for Mahomes, as he’s won both games he’s played against Jackson and the Ravens.
One of those games came in 2018 that went into overtime, but saw the Chiefs win it. The other was this past year where the Chiefs won it pretty convincingly. Jackson didn’t play great in either game and to this point in his career, he’s lost just three regular season games and two of them have come against Mahomes and the KC Chiefs.
Jackson saying he hates playing against Mahomes is a funny quote from the weekend, but fans should continue to enjoy watching these two go at for years to come. The Chiefs and Ravens play again in 2020 and this time it’ll be in Baltimore whereas the first two were played at Arrowhead Stadium.
