Kansas City Chiefs: Way too early look at opponents for 2020 season
Now we find ourselves in the AFC East.
The east is comprised of one team that could prove quite a challenge in the New England Patriots, a possible trap game in the Buffalo Bills, and two teams that the Chiefs should manhandle in the Jets and the Dolphins.
People are already writing off the Patriots because of the season they just finished and how they finished it – dropping two home games to inferior teams – and especially with the future of Tom Brady still murky at best. As long as Bill Belichick is masterminding that team, I will never write off the Patriots.
The Pats are coming to Arrowhead, which is an advantage for the Chiefs, but regardless if it is Tom Brady or not, it is still Bill Belichick and the Pats and they should be treated with respect. That defense is also lethal, as Stephon Gilmore was arguably the best defensive player in the league this past season.
The Bills could be a trap game because the Chiefs do have to travel there, and Buffalo can be a tough place to play, especially if the game ends up in the month of December and the field is blanketed in snow. The Bills have been a team that have gotten the best of the Chiefs over the years, but they’ve yet to face the Pat Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs.
A lot of people sleep on the Bills, but Josh Allen is always improving and last season their defense was one of the best in the league. They found ways to win in 2019 and those teams are not to be taken lightly.
The KC Chiefs should have no problem with the Jets at home unless there’s a major injury on their team.
The best part about facing the Dolphins will be returning to the site of the Chiefs Super Bowl LIV victory. The Dolphins did Chiefs Kingdom a huge service last season by knocking off the Patriots in the final game of the season, but their repayment could be the Chiefs knocking them off and hoping to go back to the big game in February.
