Weeks after a Super Bowl victory, the same feeling of overwhelming joy is still fresh for Kansas City Chiefs fans. There were a few moments that captured the win and those plays will be ingrained in the minds of Kansas City fans forever.

Like a ton of bricks, the Kansas City Chiefs offense hits you, from all sides of the field. You can only contain them for so long until the Legion of Zoom overwhelms a defense, even the best defense. San Francisco picked Patrick Mahomes off twice, got pressure on him regularly, and took a ten-point lead deep into the fourth quarter.

None of it mattered.

Andy Reid almost failed to throw it down field once to the fastest guy in the league, but his quarterback saved him once again after he requested “2-3 Jet Chip Wasp.” The play-call heard ’round the world that may go on TV’s everywhere for the next 50 years, similar to “65 Toss Power Trap.”

It was a storybook ending that everyone involved with the organization deserved. Let’s take a look at those unforgettable moments that brought the Lombardi Trophy to the streets of Kansas City.

Number 3 – Sammy Watkins absolutely burns Richard Sherman

As expensive as Sammy Watkins has been for the Chiefs, he may have earned all of it and more in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

At the San Francisco 48-yard line, with just under four minutes left in the game, Watkins ran a go-route against one of the league’s best cornerbacks and beat him like he stole something. As he broke free and Mahomes put it right in his bread basket, everyone knew how big of a play Watkins had just made.

It parallels with Alex Gordon‘s game-tying World Series home run against the Mets in 2015. Gordon would soon be overpaid and past his prime after the season, but that bomb assured him a hefty contract in the offseason. We will see if this Watkins catch signals the same.

The 38-yard pitch and catch led the Chiefs to take the lead with 2:44 left and they never looked back. Watkins may be remembered for being made of glass during his tenure with the Chiefs, but he certainly gave fans a reason to remember him for much more.

He’s a Super Bowl champ for life and no one can take that away from him. “Slammin'” Sammy Watkins etched his name into Kansas City history forever with this play.

Thank you, Sammy.

Number 2 – Frank Clark’s game-sealing sack

After spending the whole year under-appreciated by a majority of fans around the NFL, Frank Clark trash-talked his name into media posts everywhere during the postseason. That brought up his stats, contract, and Dee Ford-comparisons.

How fitting it was for him to back up all that talk with a great performance in Super Bowl LIV. It was even more poetic that Clark wrapped up Jimmy Garoppolo to put any 49ers’ comeback hopes to bed just a year after Dee Ford jumped offsides to send the Chiefs into the offseason.

Clark’s sack validated another huge contract, just like Watkins’ catch. He proved his worth all year, even if the sacks were not there. He was an every down player, much better than Dee Ford who was nonexistent in the game.

Chiefs fans will see a lot more of Clark for years to come, which is not a bad thing.

Thank you, Frank.

Number 1 – Another 3rd and Long conversion

2-3 Jet Chip Wasp turned out to be a great call. While Andy Reid deserves his credit, Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill ran the play to perfection.

Hill turned his defender around on a post-corner route and Mahomes threw it 50 yards off his back foot with pressure coming from his blindside. The match made in heaven connected one more time, as Mahomes let it go before Hill even broke to the corner.

This play’s importance cannot be overstated as a failure to convert would have resulted in a punt with seven minutes left in the game, down by ten.

Patrick Mahomes has an inordinate amount of mind-boggling statistics since taking over as starting quarterback two years ago. One of the craziest is his stats on 3rd and 15+ yards this past season where he was 13-17 for 299 yards, 3TD, and 0 Interceptions. Incredible.

Thank you, Pat. Thank you, Cheetah.
