KC Royals news consists of 2020 spring training beginning and how we’re getting closer to the start of baseball season!

The Kansas City Royals won’t play baseball games that actually count until March 26th, but at least there’s baseball being played right now! The boys in blue kicked off 2020 spring training this past Friday and dropped the Cactus League opener 5-4 to the Texas Rangers.

Both Jorge Soler and Ryan O’Hearn homered in that game and the Royals led 3-0 until Eric Skoglund served up three runs to even the game at three runs a piece. Skoglund and Chance Adams struggled on the mound while all of the other pitchers escaped the game with no damage to their stat line.

That’ll obviously change as spring training progresses, but for Skoglund, it wasn’t a good start. He’s in jeopardy of making the roster as it is and a bad first game in spring training wasn’t ideal for the former Central Florida pitcher.

More from Kansas City Royals

On Sunday, the Kansas City Royals faced the Indians and the highlight was that it was the first time fans got to watch Brady Singer work this spring training. He pitched one inning and struck out two batters. Foster Griffin and Kyle Zimmer both struggled, which definitely impacts Zimmer more than it does Griffin.

"The 23-year-old righty very well could make the Opening Day rotation (though he likely wouldn’t pitch for a few weeks due to all of the days off early in the season), but he’s going to have to really prove that he’s ready in Spring Training."

HERE’S WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING AROUND THE REST OF THE WEB

"The Royals won’t be good in 2020, nor do I believe they will be good in 2021. Still, they have put together an interesting group of players on offense. Everyone should want to watch Soler smash baseballs, or Mondesi steal bases. There’s nothing wrong with electrifying youngsters on the offensive side of the ball."

While we still have over a month to go until actual baseball is played, it’s nice having stuff to talk about again when it comes to the Kansas City Royals. We can watch the pitchers eat innings and see what potential position players could surprise us this spring.

Baseball season is here.
