The Kansas City Chiefs need to add a few receivers this offseason and it just so happens that the Bears released Taylor Gabriel. Could he be a fit in Kansas City’s offense?

This offseason should be an interesting one for the Kansas City Chiefs and the wide receiver position in general is one that will have a lot of movement. Sammy Watkins is technically under contract for 2020, but he’s made comments that he isn’t sure what the future holds for him.

Demarcus Robinson is someone who more than likely won’t be back in 2020. He didn’t do much with the Chiefs during his four years in town, but there will be team out there more than willing to pay him as their next WR2. Let that team overpay him is my thought on that.

So, with the Chiefs’ WR2 and WR3 both potentially out the door this offseason, adding a free agent wide receiver is something KC needs to look into and Taylor Gabriel might be worth looking into.

More from Chiefs Free Agency

Gabriel – who just turned 29 earlier this month – has always been a WR2/3 type of player for his past teams (Browns, Falcons, Bears) and that’s what the Chiefs will be looking to add. They’ll still have Tyreek Hill as their starting wideout and Mecole Hardman should make more of a jump on the receiver depth chart. He was predominantly used on special teams as a rookie, but was drafted as a receiver.

Gabriel is coming off a season in which he had 353 yards receiving off of 29 receptions with four touchdowns. His best year came in 2016 with the Atlanta Falcons where he hauled in 35 receptions for 579 yards and six touchdowns with another rushing touchdown to his name.

He’s never been THE guy in the offense, but the Chiefs don’t need a player like that. They have Hill and Travis Kelce as their main threats in the offense, so Gabriel would simply provide someone who could get key first downs. Give Gabriel a good quarterback and he’s a great weapon to have.

Signing Taylor Gabriel shouldn’t take a ton of money, as he’s 29 years old and has yet to have an eye popping season, but he’d be a nice fit in the 2020 Kansas City Chiefs offense and it’d be wise for them to strongly considering bringing him in for this upcoming season.

What would you think about the Chiefs potentially signing Taylor Gabriel? Would you be for or against it?
