Kansas City Chiefs: Derek Carr leaving AFC West would be a shame

Kansas City Chiefs fans have grown accustom to facing Derek Carr every year since he was drafted by the Raiders in 2014. If the Raiders sign Tom Brady, that means no more Carr with the Raiders.

One of the biggest talking points in the National Football League right now isn’t the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, but rather freaking Tom Brady, who is slated to hit the free agent market for the first time in his 20 year career.

The teams linked to Brady the most throughout the process are, of course, the Patriots, but also the Chargers and the Raiders – both of whom are in the Chiefs’ division, which could be fun. The Raiders are moving to Las Vegas this year and are obviously looking to make a splash in a new stadium/city by bringing in a 42 (soon to be 43) year old quarterback to be the face of their franchise.

It’s been reported even that the Raiders are looking to offer Touchdown Tommy a two-year contract worth $60 million. Such a Raider thing to do, right?

More from Kansas City Chiefs

While it’d be fun to see Brady square off against the Chiefs twice a year, the bad news about this deal going down would be that the Chiefs wouldn’t get their two easy wins a year against Derek Carr, who has been notoriously bad against Kansas City during his six years in the pros.

Since the

Oakland

Las Vegas Raiders drafted Derek Carr in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, he’s gone a mere 2-10 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both of those wins have come in the Black Hole and both also occurred on Thursday Night Football.

So, to sum up, Carr is 0-10 against Kansas City when the two teams play on Sunday, which in case you forgot, is the day that most teams play their games. His 0-6 record at Arrowhead Stadium is eye popping enough, but when you actually dive into his stats whenever he’s played there, he’s been atrocious, throwing for four touchdowns and seven interceptions while being sacked 19 times.

Carr had a nice season in 2016 and many started singing his praises, but once he got paid, he wasn’t the same player. It’s evident that Jon Gruden and the Raiders front office don’t see him as part of the future or the team wouldn’t be linked to Tom Brady.

From the Raiders’ point of view, it makes sense to want to part ways with Carr. He hasn’t shown that he can beat the best team in the division even when he’s had a good team surrounding him. If the Raiders want any shot at winning the AFC West in the next decade, they need to find a quarterback who can give the Chiefs all they can handle.

Derek Carr isn’t that guy.

Hopefully if Brady goes to the Raiders, then Carr ends up in Los Angeles with the Chargers because it’s nice having two games against him every year.
