STEFEN WISNIEWSKI

The offensive line didn’t have a great night against the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, but I think we can all agree that once Stefen Wisniewski took over at left guard, the Chiefs offensive line looked a hell of a lot better than it had all season long.

Wisniewski joined the Chiefs in October and was initially used on special teams. He got his first share offensive snaps in week seven, but didn’t become a full-time starter until week 16. From then on, he was the starting left guard and protected Patrick Mahomes well.

Wisniewski will turn 31 years old in March and if brought back, shouldn’t be given anything more than a one-year deal, but I’m 100% down with re-signing him for 2020. He made a big difference along the KC offensive line and when you have a quarterback like Mahomes, you HAVE to protect him at all costs.

MATT MOORE OR CHAD HENNE

More from Chiefs Free Agency

Yes, the Chiefs signed Kyle Shurmur to a future’s deal, but the kid out of Vanderbilt has yet to see any meaningful NFL action. Matt Moore, on the other hand, saved the Chiefs’ season when it looked impossible to save and could be worth bringing back for one more year.

Moore threw passes in three games and started two games for the Chiefs. He finished the season with 659 yards and four touchdowns and went 1-1 as a starter. Moore turns 36 in August, so it’d be understandable if he didn’t want to return, but if he doesn’t, then the Chiefs should consider keeping Chad Henne for another year.

Henne signed a two-year deal prior to 2018 and attempted just three passes that year. He was going to be the back up in 2019, but was injured during the preseason and “replaced” by Moore. Henne turns 35 in July and is already familiar with the offensive system. Why not bring him or Moore back to be the QB2 behind Mahomes in 2020?

The Kansas City Chiefs have some tough decisions to make this offseason, but these are the six players I would try to keep for 2020.

Some of them aren’t realistic – mainly Bashaud Breeland and Kendall Fuller – who will both look to make a decent chunk of change on the open market. Were it not for injury, Emmanuel Ogbah would have probably gotten some big time looks in free agency and still could, but hopefully the Chiefs can find a way to keep him.

There are obviously some other players who deserve to be mentioned here, but these were the six who I would most like to see the Chiefs keep in 2020 without breaking the bank (which Chris Jones would do).
