In the most shocking loss of the playoffs so far, the Titans took down the Ravens. That means if the KC Chiefs take care of business against the Texans on Sunday, they’ll be hosting the AFC Championship game for the second straight year.

Never count any team out when it comes to the NFL playoffs. Kansas City Chiefs fans have learned that lesson over the years and now the Baltimore Ravens are certainly making a note of that for future seasons, as they were humiliated by the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night.

With the Ravens losing, that opens things up for the Chiefs to host the Titans next week in the AFC Championship game. There is one obstacle they need to get past first, however, and that’s the Houston Texans. Kansas City hosts the Texans in the Divisional Round on Sunday afternoon.

While Chiefs fans are excited by Saturday’s results, something to keep in mind is that while yes, the Chiefs would host the AFC title game now, so would the Texans if they were to take down KC in what would be another big upset. In other words, the motivating factor of hosting the title game applies to both teams here.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

It’d obviously be great to host another playoff game next week, but first things first, and that’s to focus on the task at hand, which is the Texans on Sunday.

Houston took round one between these two teams back in week six, but as you’ve probably heard a lot throughout the week, the Chiefs were pretty banged up in that one. They were without their starting left tackle, left guard, and WR2 as well as their star pass rusher and one of their better run stoppers.

Simply put – The Chiefs are healthier now and their defense is also much more improved from that week six loss. That game might not mean much to Chiefs fans now, but it meant something to the Texans and that’s that they know that they can go into Arrowhead Stadium and get a victory though. That’s a big lesson to learn, even if it did come in the regular season.

Sunday’s game was a big one prior to the Ravens losing, but now, it’s even bigger for the Kansas City Chiefs. If they defeat the Houston Texans on Sunday, they’ll be hosting their second straight AFC Championship game and not many people would have predicted that would be happening even just a month ago.

If the Chiefs win on Sunday, they’re one win away from a Super Bowl appearance. The stage is set. Let’s get it done.
