Kansas City Chiefs: Staff predictions for all four Divisional Round games
After a whirlwind of a Wild Card round, we now move onto the Divisional Round of the playoffs! With that, come another four games, and this time, the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing.
The Kansas City Chiefs had off last weekend, but they’ll begin their run to a Lombardi Trophy this Sunday afternoon against the Texans. The KC Kingdom staff made their predictions for last weekend’s games and we’re back this weekend (well, most of us are).
Shade did the best last weekend, going 3-1 and only missing on the Vikings winning (we all picked the Saints to win… D’oh!). Leigh and Chris both went 2-2 while Kole and Cullen went 1-3 (both accurately predicting the Seahawks to win).
Shade didn’t participate this week, so let’s see if the others can make up for their Wild Card blunders.
49ERS VS VIKINGS
- Kole Berrey – 49ers 27, Vikings 24
- Chris Clark – 49ers 27, Vikings 13
- Cullen Jekel – 49ers 23, Vikings 24
- Leigh Oleszczak – 49ers 34, Vikings 27
The first game of the divisional round will take place on Saturday at 3:35 and pits the Vikings against the 49ers. Minnesota shocked a lot of people by going into New Orleans and taking down the Saints. Not only did they beat the Saints, they made the Saints look average.
For their efforts, the Vikings are now rewarded with facing the number one seeded 49ers and these two play very similar styles of football. Neither of them have exciting quarterbacks (sorry Jimmy G) and both have run games they heavily lean on as well as respectable defenses.
Staff feels pretty good about the 49ers holding serve here with all but one picking them to win on Saturday.
RAVENS VS TITANS
- Kole – Ravens 31, Titans 17
- Chris – Ravens 24, Titans 14
- Cullen – Ravens 26, Titans 21
- Leigh – Ravens 35, Titans 21
Saturday evening will bring us Ravens vs Titans, which kicks off at 7:15 that evening. This will be a sneaky good game, as it’ll pit two similar teams against each other. Both have phenomenal run games and rely on that to win them games.
While the Titans went into Foxborough and possibly ended the Patriots dynasty, they’ll have a much tougher task this weekend against Baltimore. The Ravens defense isn’t as talented as the Titans defense, but is the eventual MVP enough to get Baltimore the W?
Staff all went with the Ravens in this one and all but one of us picked them to win by double digits. While the Ravens should be able to win this one pretty easily, never count out Tennessee. Chiefs fans know that all too well.
CHIEFS VS TEXANS
- Kole – Chiefs 38, Texans 20
- Chris – Chiefs 21, Texans 17
- Cullen – Chiefs 29, Texans 23
- Leigh – Chiefs 24, Texans 17
Speaking of the Chiefs, they’re the first game on Sunday, kicking off at 2:05. They’ll welcome in the Texans, who came from behind to defeat the Bills in overtime last week. This game should be an entertaining one, as it’ll feature two first round quarterbacks from the 2017 NFL Draft.
This game will come down to which quarterback can out duel the other. This won’t be a run heavy game like the two previous ones; No, this will be a gun slinging type of game at Arrowhead Stadium.
We’re a Kansas City blog, so it should come as no surprise that *Boomer voice* WE’RE ALLLLLL ON THE CHIEFS. Most of us had this being a pretty competitive game, but one staffer thinks it’ll be a blowout.
PACKERS VS SEAHAWKS
- Kole – Packers 23, Seahawks 14
- Chris – Packers 16, Seahawks 14
- Cullen – Packers 23, Seahawks 16
- Leigh – Packers 21, Seahawks 20
Rounding out the Divisional Round is Packers vs Seahawks, kicking off at 5:40 on Sunday evening. While the Packers haven’t been discussed all that much this postseason, they’re the freaking two seed for a reason.

Green Bay’s offense hasn’t been what you’d expect, given the quarterback they’ve had for over a decade now, but they’re the home team and have had two weeks off to prepare for this game. Seattle’s offense is good, but their defense has been shaky this year and that will come to light in this one.
Staff feels confident in Green Bay benefitting from their home field advantage and has them taking down the feisty Seahawks to advance to the championship game.

For the most part, staff appeared to be on the same page with their predictions. We all had the Ravens, Chiefs, and Packers winning and all but one us picked the 49ers to advance in the first game of the weekend.
We’d love to hear your predictions in the comment section below!
