The Kansas City Chiefs went on their final road game of the regular season and left the Windy City with a 26-3 victory over the Bears. With the win, they’re still mathematically alive in the hunt for the two-seed.

At this point, it’ll be very difficult for the Kansas City Chiefs to get that two seed, as they’ll have to rely on the Dolphins going into Foxborough next weekend and beating the Patriots. While New England hasn’t been the same squad we’ve come to loathe over the last two decades, they rarely lose at home and they certainly don’t lose at home to a team like the Dolphins.

The Chiefs still have to take care of business against the Chargers next week too, which isn’t a tough task whatsoever. It’s looking like they’ll be hosting a team in the Wild Card round though and I’m really hoping it’s not the Titans coming to Arrowhead for Wild Card weekend. Anything but that PLEASE.

Anyway, back to the victory in Chicago, this was all Chiefs. Never once did it feel like the Bears were going to crawl their way back and make a game of this.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

There were two big storylines in this game; Andy Reid vs Matt Nagy and Patrick Mahomes vs Mitchell Trubisky. Well, we learned why Reid is one of the best in the biz and we also learned that if Bears fans probably cry about what could have been had they taken Mahomes at pick number two in 2017.

Thankfully they took Trubisky, who the defense limited to 157 yards passing and 20 yards rushing. The defense did give up over 100 yards rushing, but no Bears running back had a huge night by any means.

Speaking of over 100 yards, the Chiefs rushing attack got over that mark as well! Damien Williams led the way with 16 carries for 65 yards and looked pretty good in his return. The run game as a whole totaled 107 yards off 28 carries.

Mahomes had a nice, but not spectacular game, throwing for 251 yards and two touchdowns while getting sacked just one time. He avoided pressure from Khalil Mack all night long and that was good to see. Mack worried me considering his previous success against the Chiefs when he was in Oakland.

The Chiefs finish their regular season next week when they welcome in the Los Angeles Chargers to Arrowhead Stadium. If the Patriots lose to the Dolphins, then KC still has a shot at the two seed, but more than likely, they’ll be playing the first week of January in the Wild Card round.

One week at a time though, my friends. For now, let’s enjoy this win!
