This game seemed huge when the schedule was first announced back in April, probably due to both teams making the playoffs last year and because of the Andy Reid-Matt Nagy connection.

Now, fast forward to the week of this game being played and a lot has changed. People were surprised this stayed in the Sunday Night Football lineup due to the Bears being a disappointment and the Chiefs having had locked up their division already.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

On that note, the Bears have very little to play for at this point of the season. They’re not going to the postseason and they’re not bad enough to have a high draft pick. So at this point, it’s about trying to play spoiler to their final two opponents.

The Chiefs, on the other hand, still have a lot to play for. They’re the three seed in the AFC playoffs right now and can still theoretically grab the top two seeds, but they’ll need some help. The one seed is unlikely, but the two seed is in play if the Patriots drop one of their final two games and KC wins out.

Either way, the Chiefs will go into Chicago and play hard because they have to. If they end up with the same record as Houston, they drop to the four seed. No one wants that.

This game might not be as spicy as it was to start the year, but it’ll still be fun to see the Chiefs square off against a team they only see every four years.
