WINNER: OVERALL DEFENSIVE EFFORT

We’ll wrap things up on a good note, and that’s the Chiefs defense, which has come to life over the last month of the season. They’re pressuring the quarterback, forcing turnovers, and making key stops, all things they were struggling with at the beginning of the year.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The run defense wasn’t great, allowing 94 yards rushing to what had been a struggling Patriots run game. The reason I didn’t list them in the losers category, however, is because no individual Patriots running back went for more than 33 yards, which James White had off of six carries.

I touched on the pass defense and the pass rush earlier, but their great work in this game needs repeating. The defense, as a whole, played wonderful on Sunday and if this Chiefs defense can continue to show up, this team should be able to make a deep run in the playoffs next month.

This was a MASSIVE win by the Kansas City Chiefs and now they’ll head home to face a Broncos team that has nothing to play for. It’s becoming very possible that Kansas City can win out on the year and finish the season at 12-4. Will that be enough to get them a bye in the playoffs?
