The KC Chiefs have had Derek Carr’s number throughout his six-year career and they proved so yet again on Sunday, blasting Carr and his Raiders 40-9 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Saying that Derek Carr has struggled against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium would be a major understatement. The Oakland Raiders quarterback has failed to win a game at Arrowhead in six tries, sitting at 0-6 against his AFC West foe.

Not only has Carr gone winless in six tries in Kansas City, but he’s been downright awful in each of his six games at the loudest stadium in the league. It’s as if he’s wanted no part in even trying to defeat the Chiefs in their house.

Matt Verderame outlined all of Carr’s starts against the Chiefs in Arrowhead and the numbers are not pretty.

While Carr actually finished this year’s game with 222 yards through the air and a touchdown, a lot of it came in garbage time. He did next to nothing throughout most of the game and was clearly frustrated whenever something didn’t go his way.

Looking at those numbers again, Carr has thrown four touchdowns and seven interceptions during those six match-ups at Arrowhead. That will not get the job done if he ever wants to best the Chiefs in their home stadium.

The best chance for Carr to do this was three years ago when the Raiders were the best they had been in years and Carr had been playing at an MVP level. Instead, as you can see above, he finished with just 117 yards and zero touchdowns. That game singlehandedly cost Carr the MVP award in 2016.

Arrowhead hasn’t been kind to Carr, but the Chiefs in general have been the guy’s kryptonite. He’s won just two games against them with both of those coming in the Black Hole and on Thursday Night Football to boot.

He’s yet to knock the Chiefs off in a daytime game in a big moment. Though, fun fact, Carr’s first career victory did come against Kansas City on Thursday Night Football in 2014. The Raiders were 0-10 before that win.

Since then, however, the Raiders quarterback has failed to beat the team that sits atop the division. If Carr and the Raiders ever want to win the AFC West, they’ll have to beat the Kansas City Chiefs and that’s something the once MVP candidate has been unable to do throughout his career.
