The Kansas City Chiefs moved up a spot in the playoff seedings this week. Let’s check out the other movement in playoff picture.

Taking down the Chargers was big for numerous reasons, but the Kansas City Chiefs ended up moving up one spot in the current AFC playoff picture, leapfrogging the Texans, who lost to Baltimore this past Sunday.

Here is the current playoff picture for the AFC.

  1. New England Patriots (9-1) – BYE
  2. Baltimore Ravens (8-2) – BYE
  3. Kansas City Chiefs (7-4)
  4. Indianapolis Colts (6-4)
  5. Buffalo Bills (7-3)
  6. Houston Texans (6-4)

IN THE HUNT: RAIDERS (6-4), STEELERS (5-5), TITANS (5-5)

More from Kansas City Chiefs

If the season ended today, the Chiefs would host the Texans in the Wild Card Round while the Colts would welcome in the Bills. I know fans should want the higher seed no matter what, but hosting the Bills would be a more preferred match-up than hosting the Texans, who already came into Arrowhead and beat the Chiefs this season.

If the teams played to their seeds, the Chiefs would travel to Baltimore while the Colts would head to Foxborough. If the Chiefs won their game, they’d automatically be the team traveling to Baltimore due to being the highest Wild Card seed.

I only included “IN THE HUNT” teams that were .500 or above. While the Steelers don’t have the quarterback talent to make a deep run, their defense is legit and could be what gets them to the playoffs.

For week 12, the Patriots host the Cowboys, the Ravens travel to LA to play the Rams, the Chiefs have a bye week, the Texans host the Colts in what will be a fun AFC South match-up, while the Bills host the Broncos.

Now, let’s look at the NFC playoff picture.

  1. San Francisco 49ers (9-1) – BYE
  2. Green Bay Packers (8-2) – BYE
  3. New Orleans Saints (8-2)
  4. Dallas Cowboys (6-4)
  5. Seattle Seahawks (8-2)
  6. Minnesota Vikings (8-3)

IN THE HUNT: RAMS (6-4), EAGLES (5-5), PANTHERS (5-5)

The NFC didn’t change at all from last week, with the Saints still hosting the Vikings and the Cowboys welcoming in the Seahawks. Assuming the teams played to their seeds, the Saints would head to Lambeau while the Cowboys would travel west to play the Niners.

It’s surprising to see the Rams not in the playoff picture, but they haven’t been the same team they were a year ago. The NFC West is no joke and that’s indicated by the Seahawks sitting as the five seed due to the Niners’ 9-1 record.

The Chiefs will likely move from the three seed to the four seed next week because the Colts and Texans play each other this weekend and both have the tiebreaker over Kansas City. So back to the four seed they’ll go.

Where do you think the Kansas City Chiefs will end up in the playoff seedings when the season is all said and done?
