This was a must win game for the Kansas City Chiefs, who continue to stay ahead of the Raiders for first place in the AFC West. Now, the long awaited bye week has arrived.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The bye week is finally here and it’ll be great for the KC Chiefs to sit back and get healthy for the next two weeks. We saw some key injuries in this game, including Tyreek Hill and the Chiefs’ two main running backs. Obviously those are pretty critical injuries.

The biggest takeaways from this game is that the defense wasn’t perfect, but they forced turnovers when need be. They looked like the 2016 unit that was very much a “bend, but don’t break” defense and if the defense can play like that throughout the rest of the season, fans would take that. They held the Chargers run game to under 100 yards, but still weren’t great at defending the run.

Mahomes had arguably his worst game of the season, throwing for under 200 yards, one touchdown, and just his second interception in the 2019 season. He did run for over 50 yards and played better in the second half, but hey, at least he’s healthy and has a few weeks to rest up.

This bye week is well-deserved for the KC Chiefs and it’s time to prepare for the final stretch of regular season games!
