WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE CHIEFS?

Let’s save the best for last, shall we? The Kansas City Chiefs almost lost their way to being the first team discussed in this article, but a last second field goal by Harrison Butker got the Chiefs their sixth win of the season and they’re now 6-3 on the year. That field goal gave them a 26-23 win over the Minnesota Vikings in what was quite an exhilarating game.

The Chiefs were still without Patrick Mahomes, so it was Matt Moore time once again, and the guy did his job wonderfully. He went 25 of 35 for 275 yards and a touchdown and looked good despite getting sacked five times and hit another nine times.

The run game was mostly mediocre, but Damien Williams‘ 91 yard touchdown run bloated those stats. He finished the day with 125 rushing yards and that incredible touchdown. All of the other rushers finished the day with single digits in yardage. Not ideal.

As for the receivers, it was Tyreek Hill who once again stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. Moore connected with Hill on a beautiful touchdown pass and catch that made it 7-0 Chiefs late in the first quarter. Hill finished with 140 yards and a touchdown off of six catches.

The Chiefs defense is finally starting to gel, as they held Dalvin Cook and the Vikings running backs to under 100 yards rushing. They didn’t force any turnovers and allowed Kirk Cousins to throw for three touchdowns and convert on some big third downs, but when push came to shove, they stepped up and helped out their Mahomes-less offense.

Next up for the Chiefs is a date in Nashville with the Tennessee Titans. Patrick Mahomes might be back for that one. If he’s not, Matt Moore has proven he can keep this offense afloat and that’s huge. This was a big time win for the Kansas City Chiefs.
