The Kansas City Chiefs are now 6-3 after a game winning field goal against the Vikings at Arrowhead. The final was Chiefs 26, Vikings 23.

THAT JUST HAPPENED! Harrison Butker knocked through the game winning kick and the Kansas City Chiefs, who were once again without their MVP quarterback, moved to 6-3 on the year and are now 1-1 without Patrick Mahomes.

That was as close as it could get for the Chiefs and the Vikings when the two teams took the field on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs were without Mahomes, so it was up to Matt Moore to try to get the W for the good guys.

This was a closely contested game throughout, but ultimately the Chiefs persevered in the final seconds. Butker is the hero, but obviously football is a team sport, so let’s highlight the other big time playmakers.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Matt Moore was decent, going 25 of 35 for 275 yards and a touchdown, but he was getting knocked around by that vicious Vikings defense all day long. He was hit nine times and sacked five times. It wouldn’t have been ideal to put Mahomes back out there for after his injury.

The offense helped Moore out, especially Tyreek Hill and Damien Williams, who both had their fair share of highlights on the afternoon. Hill had a nice touchdown catch and run while Williams took the ball 91 yards down the field for six. The Chiefs needed that kind of production from their offense.

The defense allowed less than 100 yards rushing (which Chiefs fans never would have predicted) with Dalvin Cook going for 71 yards on the day. That was a win for the Chiefs, as their run defense had been atrocious this season while the Vikings rushing attack had been one of the best in the league.

Kirk Cousins threw for 220 yards, but had three touchdown passes and the Chiefs only sacked him once while hitting him four times. He didn’t make many mistakes, but the Chiefs continued the whole “Kirk Cousins can’t beat good teams” mantra that’s been floating around out there throughout Cousins’ career.

This was a HUGE win for the Kansas City Chiefs. They didn’t have their quarterback. They still have a bunch of players out due to injury. The Vikings provided a really bad match-up for KC, yet the Chiefs made their moments count and in the end, they prevailed and beat the Vikings in the final seconds.

What a game. What a win.
