The Kansas City Chiefs are a top-heavy team, and right now, with a couple of exceptions, those top-of-the-line players are either not playing up to their potential, or they’re hurt.

As such, the overall product has been brought down, causing the Chiefs to go just 1-3 in their last four games.

Still, some areas are holding steady.

The offensive line, despite dealing with a rash of injuries, is holding its own, at least when it comes to protecting the quarterback. Most of the team’s defenders have either held pat or improved since the last time I handed out grades.

Some rookies, like Saunders, Fenton, and Thornhill, are playing better and getting more chances. And the same can be said for Ragland, a linebacker looking to keep his career afloat.

Now, the running backs and wide receivers need to get better. Same with most of the secondary and a portion of the linebackers. All of this, though, starts with coaching. Reid and his coordinators need to put the players in a better position to win these games.

Overall, the team is keeping its head above the water. To get to the next level, though, everybody needs to pick it up a notch.
