Even though the KC Chiefs were without six starters, they still somehow came close to winning this game and while moral victories are silly, that does seem like a win for the Mahomes-less Chiefs.

That game surprised the heck out of me. While I didn’t necessarily think the Kansas City Chiefs would get blown out per say, I did think Green Bay would handle them with ease. Instead, the Chiefs made a game out of this and I think a lot of Packer fans were probably a bit anxious as the game neared the end.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Yes, Kansas City lost, but so did Oakland, who are still two games behind them in the division, so the Chiefs didn’t lose any ground there.

Even with the loss, fans have to feel better about this team’s chances moving forward should Mahomes have to miss more than just next week. KC hosts the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday at noon and that’s a team that can gash teams on the ground in the run game.

Something interesting this season before I sign off is that the Kansas City Chiefs are now 1-3 at Arrowhead Stadium and are undefeated on the road. So maybe, just maybe, not winning home field advantage in the playoffs isn’t the end of the world for our mighty Chiefs.

Losing is never fun, but not many people were predicting Kansas City to win this one and somehow – even without Patrick Mahomes – they made a game out of it. That should tell fans a lot moving forward.
