RYAN FITZPATRICK

Somehow in his 15+ years in the NFL, Ryan Fitzpatrick has yet to play for the Chiefs. He has had success against them though, smoking them multiple times when he was with Buffalo. He also threw six interceptions against KC as a Jet though, so that’s kind of what you’re getting with the guy people call FitzMagic.

Fitzpatrick, at 36 years old, has a lot left in the tank for a team. He’s not a starter (though he did provide a spark to the Dolphins in their last two games), but is the perfect backup option. He is nearing the end of his career, however, so if Kansas City brought him in for next year, it’d have to be on a one-year deal.

ELI MANNING

I wrote an article about the Chiefs needing to call New York about Eli Manning after Mahomes went down, but that was before the news surfaced that Andy Reid wanted to stick with Moore moving forward.

All of that being said, Manning will be a free agent this offseason. Whether he opts to call it a career at age 39 is still up in the air, but if Manning does want to come back and try for a third Super Bowl, he could do so behind Mahomes. It’s doubtful that Manning would go this route considering he could probably be a starter somewhere, but it’s something KC could, and should, consider.
