Tommy Eveld, RHP Relief Pitcher

Tommy Eveld, the 25-year-old (26 in December) right-handed relief pitcher, has steadily climbed the Marlins farm system after putting up excellent numbers in 2017 (A and A+ league) and 2018 (A+ and AA league).

More from Kansas City Royals

In 2019, Eveld had solid numbers in AA, but struggled in 18 AAA appearances. For his minor league career, Eveld has posted a 2.78 ERA, 1.026 WHIP, and 211 Ks in 178.1 innings of relief work in a late inning reliever role.

Eveld features a pitching arsenal of a fastball (92-95 mph) and a plus slider (86-89 mph). He creates a tough angle with deceptive mechanics vs right-handed hitters. His slider has great movement, which he uses to backdoor left-handed hitters.

Eveld’s funky mechanics create difficulties for right-handed batters and he could specialize in that role. Eveld will be Rule 5 draft eligible this offseason and the Marlins may decide to move him instead of retaining him on their 40-man roster.

Possible trade offer: Cash Considerations or player to be named later
