Domingo Santana, Outfielder

Domingo Santana, the 27-year-old outfielder, may be the odd man out on the Mariners roster, which now features at least four capable outfielders and multiple options at DH.

More from Kansas City Royals

Santana is familiar to these circumstances, as he was the odd man out on the Milwaukee Brewers roster even though he hit 30 homers (plus 29 doubles) in 2017 only to see his playing time significantly decreased in 2018 and ultimately traded to the Mariners following the 2018 season.

Santana is set to enter his second year of salary arbitration with the ability to enter free agency in 2022. Santana has a career slash line of .259/.343/.453 and the ability to hit 25+ bombs per year with about seven stolen bases per year.

He is at least average defensively in either corner outfield position. Santana fills a need on the Royals upcoming 2020 roster and this type of acquisition only makes sense for the Royals.

Possible trade offer: Randy Rosario, LHP or Gabe Speier, LHP

CONCLUSION

The Kansas City Royals could use each one of these players to improve their roster for 2020 and beyond.

These players exhibit the qualities and potential to be market inefficiencies an organization like the Royals need to take advantage of being a small market team with limited resources to add roster help via free agency.
