Coming off of a frustrating loss to the Colts and dealing with an increasingly concerning amount of injuries, the Kansas City Chiefs have a big matchup this week against the Texans. Let’s look at how Madden predicts the game to go.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost a bad one last week to the Colts bringing their record to 4-1 on the season. Not many people predicted the Colts to win last week, not even Madden who has been pretty quick to predict Chiefs upsets.

That trend of picking Chiefs losses actually continues this week for Madden, but we will get to that later. First, let’s look at how Madden did last week (there was no article for this, but the sim did predict Kansas City to win). In a game that they actually predicted the Chiefs to win, the Chiefs came away with a disappointing loss.

As stated above, it is becoming apparent that Madden is quick to predict the Chiefs being upset so in a game that even Madden didn’t think the Chiefs could manage to lose, you know it was a bad loss. All losses are frustrating, but it’s even more frustrating to lose a game that should have been a win.

So at this point, until proven otherwise, I am going to suggest you take Madden’s predictions with a grain of salt, but let’s look at what happened in this week’s Madden simulation.

FINAL SCORE – TEXANS 29, Chiefs 25

TEXANS STATS

With all the injuries the Chiefs have right now, I can’t say this result would be surprising to most logical fans, but it still would be hard to believe if the Chiefs lost two in a row this early in the season.

Eric Fisher, Andrew Wylie, Sammy Watkins, and Chris Jones all missed practice Thursday, which makes them doubtful for the game on Sunday. These are all huge blows to a team that needs to get back on the right track after two underwhelming performances in a row, one of which being a loss last week.

With Watkins looking doubtful to play this week, he likely won’t score two touchdowns for the Chiefs, but we won’t hold that one against Madden. It would be nice to see Hill bounce back strong this week (assuming he even plays) and take on those two touchdowns that Watkins was supposed to have. Either way, 98 yards would be a solid first game back off of injury for Hill.

Mahomes hasn’t thrown a pick or less than 300 yards in a game yet this year, so if he puts up this stat line it will be tough for the Chiefs to come away with the W. The key take away from the Madden simulation that could result in a Chiefs win, however, is four KC sacks to the Texans’ one sack. If that holds true, the Chiefs should have a pretty good chance of coming away victorious.

My personal favorite takeaway from the simulation is Thornhill getting his first interception. Chiefs Kingdom would love to see that happen at home this Sunday.

The last positive for the Chiefs in the simulation is holding Hopkins to 48 yards and no touchdowns. Hopkins has been struggling this year, but he still needs to be a huge part of the Chiefs game plan and if they can shut him down like this it would be a huge win for the Chiefs.

There are some positive takeaways from the simulation, but seeing another predicted loss is not fun as a Chiefs fan. Let’s hope Madden is wrong again this week.
