The KC Chiefs might have been handed their first loss of 2019, but one of the few positives from the Sunday night debacle was the emergence of wide receiver Byron Pringle, who had himself a game against the Colts.

It wasn’t a good game for the Kansas City Chiefs, but Byron Pringle was one of the few bright spots on Sunday under the lights at Arrowhead Stadium. Yes, he made a questionable play near the end of the game, but let’s be real here – The offense hadn’t done much of anything to that point, so blaming the loss on Pringle is ridiculous.

The former Kansas State product had been one of those guys that fans have heaped praise on without really having seen a lot from him and now, we can officially say that Pringle showed what he could do when called upon.

Pringle, who was seeing more playing time on Sunday due to Tyreek Hill still being out and Sammy Watkins barely playing because of an injury, ended his night with six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown, to which then led to the Chiefs offense doing the Macarena in the end zone. While I don’t care for that song, I appreciated the moment for the former Wildcat.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have had a plethora of wide receivers step up to the plate this year, as Hill has been out since week one, and this past week it was Pringle’s turn apparently. The week prior he had a crucial first down catch and run and took a bunch of hard hits while holding onto the football. It was a gutsy play for the second yea receiver.

Even though it was only one game, it’s good to see this kind of production from Byron Pringle.

After this season wraps up, the Chiefs will likely release Sammy Watkins to save money and it’d be shocking if another team didn’t throw a ton of money at Demarcus Robinson (let them – He won’t be the same guy without Patrick Mahomes throwing to him). That will leave the Chiefs with Hill and Mecole Hardman on the roster for next year.

Obviously KC would probably opt to draft a receiver, but Pringle has a real shot to become a star player for this organization in the coming years and that’s why his production now, even with so many talented guys ahead of him on the depth chart, is a great sign of what’s to come.

Byron Pringle will probably go from being a star one week to maybe catching one ball the next, but that’s his role right now. A bigger role might be coming for Pringle, but he has to keep proving himself first – and hopefully next time, he doesn’t make a critical error at the end of the game.
