Kansas City Chiefs don’t need Antonio Brown in 2019
In case you haven’t heard, the Oakland Raiders released Antonio Brown, who is now free to sign with any team that he wants. The Kansas City Chiefs might be grouped in with being a destination for Brown, but they don’t need that drama.
While some fans would be drooling to see Antonio Brown in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform, let’s take a look at why that wouldn’t be a great idea for anyone.
For one, Brown is nothing but drama. He’s a very talented receiver, who has now not been able to stay with two teams. That’s saying something. If you’re talented, most of the time teams are willing to put up with a lot of crap, but the Steelers traded him for being a drama queen and took virtually pennies in exchange to get him out of Pittsburgh.
The Raiders thought they struck gold by trading for Brown, but now we see that he’s not worth the drama. He’s been a constant headache for whatever team he has been on over the last few years and with the Chiefs being legitimate Super Bowl contenders in 2019, why bring on someone who’s going to mess up what you have?
The Chiefs are also pretty well set on offense, especially at wide receiver. Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins will lead the way with Demarcus Robinson and rookie Mecole Hardman behind them on the depth chart. Throw Travis Kelce in there as well and you have a top two receiving corp in the NFL. Is Brown really needed when you have all of those weapons?

Say that Brown joined the team. He’d be whining if Patrick Mahomes didn’t target him enough or if he didn’t find the end zone in a game. The Chiefs can’t have any distractions like that in an important year like this one.
Yes, Andy Reid has been good at “fixing” players, but Antonio Brown can be somebody else’s problem for all I care. Let him go to the Patriots or even to the freaking Browns. He doesn’t need to be Reid’s, Kansas City’s, and anyone on the Chiefs’ problem in 2019.
Not when a Super Bowl is at stake. Not when the Chiefs have their best shot at winning a Super Bowl in decades.
What do you think Chiefs Kingdom? Would you want to risk the headache and give Antonio Brown a chance? He’d definitely make the offense nearly unstoppable, but he just doesn’t seem worth the hassle. What do you think?
