FANTASY FOOTBALL WIDE RECEIVERS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 7 – ODELL BECKHAM JR.

2018 Standard Scoring: 16th (153.4)

2018 PPR Scoring: 15th (230.4)

Let’s just sit back for a second to appreciate what Odell Beckham Jr did last season. He put up 1,052 yards and six touchdowns in just 12 games last year. Not only that, but it was in 12 games with Eli Manning.

Manning has had an excellent career and is likely to be a Hall of Famer, but he has no business being a starting quarterback in the NFL anymore. Beckham was able to power through this and put up numbers in 12 games that most players can’t do in 16 games.

Beckham is an incredible talent. He has had 1,000 yards in every season except one season that was shortened to four games due to injury, has had double-digit touchdowns three times (including 12 touchdowns in a 12 game ROOKIE season, which is probably even more impressive than what he did last season), and we won’t even get into how crazy his hands are.

With all that is listed, the only question you might have is why is he not at the top of these rankings?

The answer to that is competition.

Let’s just take a look at the talent in the Browns offensive unit: Odell Beckham Jr, Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, David Njoku, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and even guys like Duke Johnson and Demetrius Harris. There is a lot of mouths to feed in that offense and we will see how it shakes out, but it is a little worrisome for players in that offense from a fantasy perspective.

Obviously, Beckham is talented enough to finish much higher in these rankings, but taking target competition into consideration he is a safer bet here at seventh and as a second-round pick.
