Linebacker position battle

The last position battle we will talk about this week is the linebacker position. There weren’t any huge developments during the game, but a few minor ones. The first was that Darron Lee looked good again for the second week in a row. Lee could even be pushing for a starting spot if he continues to play well.

Also, Ben Niemann had a pretty good game, leading the team with seven tackles including one tackle for a loss. Niemann also was inches away from an interception and showed good leadership and command of the second/third-string defense.

Lastly, this is an observation that has been made over both games and training camp so far this offseason. And that is: where is Dorian O’Daniel? Coming into the season, a lot of people thought he could be a starter and now he is looking like he is on the roster bubble.

There were definitely some positives and negatives from the second preseason game. There are still many position battles that are far from being over, so it should be an interesting last couple weeks of August.
