FANTASY FOOTBALL RUNNING BACKS TO TARGET IN 2019
NUMBER 2 – SAQUON BARKLEY
The second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft should be the second overall pick in your 2019 Fantasy Football Draft.
Saquon Barkley, a former Penn State Nittany Lion, absolutely lit it up during 2018 en route to the Pro Bowl (his first of several, I’d garner) and the Associated Press’ Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
For the 5-11 New York Giants, Barkley rushed the ball for an average of five yards per carry as he gained a total of 1,307 yards on the ground to go with 11 rushing touchdowns. He caught 91 passes from The Artist Formerly Known as Eli Manning for 721 yards and four touchdowns. Overall, Barkley’s 2,028 yards from scrimmage led the NFL.
What’s he got up his sleeve for an encore?
Here’s what I expect: similar rushing numbers to what he had in 2018 with perhaps a couple of more touchdown runs. In the passing game, his role will increase with the exit of Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. Barkley will finish the year as one of two running backs with at least 100 receptions, and will score more than four receiving touchdowns.
Those will be some superb numbers. Barkley is a true RB1, the second-best running back in the NFL.
And his division.
