Kansas City Chiefs should consider bringing in D’Onta Foreman
The Kansas City Chiefs have a few options at running back, but D’Onta Foreman is a name they should think about bringing in to compete for a roster spot this summer.
When it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs offense, the only real question mark is at running back.
Say what you want about Damien Williams being the answer as the starting running back, but he’s yet to carry the load for a full 16 games. That could be problematic for the Chiefs, as he’s expected to be their RB1 when the good guys travel to Jacksonville for week one of the regular season.
With some question marks remaining at running back, the Chiefs should look into bringing D’Onta Foreman on board their ship that’s hopefully setting sail toward a Super Bowl this season. Foreman was placed on waivers by the Houston Texans on Sunday, as first reported by John McClain.
Foreman was a third round pick by the Texans, who were familiar with the Texas Longhorns product as the two teams are both in the Lone Star State. He didn’t amount to much in Houston, tallying just 326 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons. This past year he missed nearly the entire season due to injury and as the tweet above indicates, the Texans were frustrated with him.

We’ve seen in years past how Andy Reid is good with “troubled” players. Perhaps he could figure out how to get the most production out of Foreman and be able to get him back to that lethal running back we saw at Texas.
It sure sounds like Foreman could use a fresh start and the Kansas City Chiefs could be that team. I already touched on how I’m not 100% sold on Williams and while there are some decent backups on the roster, they’re mostly unknowns.
Carlos Hyde is on his fourth team in three years, Darwin Thompson is a rookie, so we don’t know what he’ll be capable of, and Darrel Williams will have an uphill battle to even make the team. Foreman rushed for over 2,000 yards during his junior season in 2016 at Texas while also finding the end zone 15 times. That production is waiting to burst out and show itself.
A change of scenery could very well do wonders for the former Longhorn, who has shown to have all of the potential in the world at one of the most grueling positions in all of sports. He isn’t much of a pass-catching back, but as far as running the ball goes, he’s shown in years past that he can carry the load.
The KC Chiefs don’t have a lot of room for error in 2019. Their offensive roster is mostly stacked, but the running back position could use an upgrade. I’m not saying D’Onta Foreman is an upgrade over Damien Williams, but since Williams is still a bit of an unknown for an entire season, Foreman being on the roster could provide some nice stability.
What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Would you be interested in picking up Foreman?
